After waiting for frickin-half-a-year, I bought my iMac this week. I’m very impressed with the service and the machine I must say - bought it in the afternoon, was told that it’d arrive the next day and it got delivered the same evening when no one was expecting it. I think I got a pretty sweet deal with the student offer - iMac at a $100 discount and an iPod Touch at $28. It’s great because my mp3 player’s falling apart and I had intended to buy a shuffle initially. The iPod Touch has so much more potential, what with talk about VoIP hacks. I’m still fairly fascinated with the WiFi features though the screen size is really too small to do anything decent.

My workdesk REALLY needs cleaning up now. Thank God I got rid of the TV when the one in the living room exploded. No, seriously.(Note the dejected Xbox360 and the obsolete psTwo that’s now being used as a speaker coaster.)

The box the iPod came in could fit 15 of them. Or 2 babies.

 This would make a thoroughly lousy engagement ring (or a great one depending on your uh, interests). If you decide to cheat on your future wife, being smacked with the horns dug deep in your flesh has got to hurt. Heck, you could probably rip an eye out with this thing.

Which kinda makes it really cool doesn’t it?

Remember the recent craze on those ‘I’m not a plastic bag’ tote bags that people were clamouring to buy and imitations (that cost as much as the originals no less) became commonplace?  These ones are even better:

Created by this Japanese label Porter (which has lots of rather minimalistic clean-looking bags; very Japanese), this is one bag that won’t look out of place in well, the supermarket.

Why settle for mere paper bags that you can get off the counter with your grocery purchase when you can spend approx US$100 buying a fake grocery bag stitched from real fabric with that little Porter brand stuck on it so people in the know can tell that you’re brand-conscious?

My company gave out Christmas presents this week.

Each of us had a gift box - the sort you’d put a turkey in - containing…

a purse-sized bag with a compartment for a water bottle (and a water bottle with the company logo on it) and a thing. The thing is elastic and foam-ish but I’m not sure what it does still because if it’s one of those newfangled gym things for you to stretch your chest/back, it’s obviously not very useful in doing that. And…

this! A spa kit (i think) with foot lotion, eye mask and random bottles of things, a pedometer (measures running distance and apparently heart rate too) and -get this - ear plugs.

I got my Ikea Friends card today. They missed out an F in my name

Overpriced yes, useful maybe but the concept for these is rather stylish.

Nalgene, manufacturer of the bullet-proof bottles (I’m not sure about the truth value of that because I’ve seen one crack…), have come up with these convenient themed packages. The Auto kit for instance, contains:

This is a watch. The time’s told by counting the number of filled dots.

Tokyoflash has the coolest watches on the planet. You can probably not tell the time at first glance on most of them but who cares, who needs to tell time anyway when you’ve got the coolest watch on the streets. All the watches are unique enough to pass off as a weird-looking wrist cuff or bracelet and most are very minimalist in appearance.

This one’s called an aspirin watch and is produced by Seiko, surprisingly.

We each had a nice gift in the office today. Who knew that what my mom and pop spent on certain movies 30 years back would one day contribute towards a spanking new watch? The collecting freak in me says ‘Yay!’ and jumps around a little.

Comes with a note of appreciation from George Lucas too. I can’t help but feel a little undeserving though, especially since I started work barely a month ago.
